CFM-CDA.10.30 Inadequate planning or development of procedures for work tasks
Failing to properly consider activities required, caused by:

• insufficient understanding of task requirements and/or not engaging with subject matter experts
• not considering all phases of work tasks – including not identifying required tools, components, consumables; missing key work task steps; not allowing for close out of the job and requirements to return the equipment or work area to service
• not identifying all potential failures and risks in a task (and so no subsequent identification of required business input activities/control)
• failing to identify implications of task sequence (e.g. items becoming unstable when not fully constructed/demolished)
• not including a formal handover and acceptance step in maintenance tasks (with more rigour applied to larger jobs)
• no process for critically reviewing all tasks in a work area to confirm that key hazards and appropriate controls are identified
